Services
The NC3TF was created for the purpose of conducting multi-jurisdictional investigations; tracking and disrupting the illicit commerce of stolen goods; and investigating and prosecuting suspects engaged in white collar crime, organized crime, and fraud against the government.
The Task Force is staffed by investigators from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies who have received specialized training in the investigation of high technology and identity theft crimes.
The Task Force will provide investigative services to members of associated agencies and the high technology industry for the following:
- Internet crimes;
- Identity theft committed by means of electronic or computer related media;
- ATM and credit card fraud committed by means of electronic or computer related media;
- Unlawful access of private/corporate/government computers and networks;
- Burglaries of, or resale of, stolen computers, computer components, high tech equipment, and/or electronic equipment such as cellular phones, gaming stations, etc…
- Theft of cable and cellular phone services;
- Counterfeiting of computer hardware and/or software; and,
- Loss prevention assistance to the high technology industry;
The Task Force will also provide support services with:
- Technical expertise and assistance in seizing, analyzing and / or copying of computer information;
- Technical expertise and assistance in obtaining search warrants; and
- Technical training to law enforcement agencies in the recognition and investigation of high technology crimes, as well as the proper methods of handling high technology evidence.
